Installing Floodtide

Version 1.3.13, 31.3 MB, universal for Apple Silicon and Intel. macOS 13 Ventura or newer.

Download the disk image

Install Floodtide

  1. Open the downloaded disk image.
  2. Drag Floodtide onto the Applications folder shown beside it.
  3. Eject the disk image.
  4. Open Floodtide from Applications. It is signed and notarised, so it opens on a normal double-click.

Or install with Homebrew

The same signed disk image is available as a cask from Floodtide’s own tap. One line taps it and installs the current release:

brew install --cask realm9758/floodtide/floodtide

Floodtide updates itself afterwards, so brew upgrade is not needed. brew uninstall --cask floodtide removes the app, its helper and the login item; add --zap to remove settings, history and backups too.

Verify the download

The SHA-256 of the current disk image is below. Compare it with shasum -a 256 ~/Downloads/Floodtide-1.3.13.dmg.

First launch

Floodtide explains what it needs before it needs anything, then scans your Applications folders. The trial runs 14 days with everything unlocked; after that it keeps scanning for free and only installing locks. A licence is £10.99 once for 3 Macs.

Uninstalling

Drag Floodtide to the Trash. Its settings and update history live in ~/Library/Application Support/Floodtide, which you can delete too. Nothing is installed outside those two places.
